Michael Durschlag

Michael graduated with a B.A. in Religious Studies from Beloit College in 1991. He spent two years at Miami University in Oxford, OH in a graduate program for World Religions and then began working for P.E.A.S.E. Academy November, 1995 as the social studies teacher. Michael is a licensed teacher, having earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of St. Thomas in 2002. He became the Director of P.E.A.S.E. Academy in January 2007.
Holly Bell

Holly joined the P.E.A.S.E. team on October 15, 2006. She comes to us from Hamline University and has Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University. She helps the staff and students keep it together every day.

Heidi Dinger, LADC
Chemical Dependency Counselor

Heidi works with P.E.A.S.E. Academy students in groups and through individual sessions daily. She also facilitates the Service Learning Program and helps organize activities and events throughout the year.
Heidi is a graduate of Minneapolis Community & Technical College with a degree in Addiction Counseling. She is a member of the Association of Recovery Schools and Chairs their Cooperative Projects Committee. Heidi comes to P.E.A.S.E. with experience in working at Anthony Louis Center and On-Belay House, Inc.

Sheila McMahon
Language Arts Teacher

She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. She has a B.A. in English and Theatre Arts, with a minor in Women's Studies. She also has completed much of the course work for an M. Ed. in English Education, through which program she earned her English teaching license. In addition to teaching the English classes, she is proud to be the advisor to the Student Leadership, Gay Straight Alliance, and Peace Jam groups.
Nicole Burkes
Science Teacher

Nicole Burkes graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 2005 with a MAI. Her undergraduate degree includes a B.A. in dance with a minor in biology from the University of Colorado. She enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with family. Motivation to be a teacher came from coaching dance and swimming and creating choreography for youth theater. She aspires to provide an inspirational educational environment for all students at P.E.A.S.E. Academy.
Betsy Baker
Math Teacher

Betsy is a graduate from Saint Mary’s University at Winona, MN in 2004. She has a B.A. in Math Education and a minor in Art. She is currently taking classes at Saint Mary’s University in the Twin Cities to complete her Master of Arts in Education. Her most recent accomplishment is learning how to knit from the fantastic students at P.E.A.S.E. Academy!
Dori Beedle
Special Education Teacher

Dori completed her teaching credentials at the University of St. Thomas and earned her B.A. in Human Services at Metro State University with a minor in Chemical Dependency. She provides direct services to our special education students.
Jim McKernon
Social Studies Teacher

Jim is a 1988 graduate of the University of St. Thomas with a B.A. in History. He completed his M.S. in Library Science and Information Studies in 2000 at Dominican University in River Forest IL. Before coming to P.E.A.S.E. in January 2007, he spent 15 years working in the healthcare industry, most recently as the Business Office Manager for Omnicare Minnesota. In addition to teaching, Jim likes to play basketball and cook. Jim lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Katherine and dog, Rosie.
